Outdoor light fixtures should be compatible with the look and lines of a house. Outdoor lamps should be approximately one-fifth the height and width of the doorway, including trim. (For example a 100" high by 60" wide entrance would require an 20"Hx12"W fixture.) Outdoor post lights should be as large or larger than the lights at your front door. Outdoor lights with several low wattage candle bulbs are superior to those with a single bulb since they provide more light with less glare and look much more glamorous at night.
