I ordered two of these beautiful sconces, and Shades of Light cooperated beautifully in getting them from Virginia to Hawaii! In the photo here, the wood looks like it has a touch of a rosy gold finish. As Jenn D. notes below, the actual wood finish is not shiny at all and is a rather washed out taupe color. I am adding a photo showing the sconce as I received it and how it looked after I used a little "Rub'nBuff" TM on it. This photo gave me the idea to mount it on an accent wall painted "storm cloud" blue-grey, to pick up the beautiful grain in an adjacent granite slab. If the product had matched the photo, I'd have given it a 5. Still good enough to go to the trouble of refinishing!

Beautiful sconce! Looks like real wood. Only downfall is the attachment to the shade...the ends of the screws that hold the shade in place is exposed on the base of the shade and looks crappy. If you look closely at the photo you can see it on the right side. I'll figure a way to hide it but wish I didn't have to go through the trouble. I will be ordering 2 more bc it's still a beautiful piece!

I have a casual and sunny house; thought this would look great on the hallway wall. The shade is wonderful, but the "oak" portion of the light is not nearly as light colored as it is in the picture here. Online it appears almost washed out. Real life, it's rather muddy colored and much darker, making it look very heavy and dull on the wall. If you're hoping to match oak floors, this will likely be too dark.
