Antique Rugs
From bright colored patchwork designs to traditional red and gold oushaks, one of our antique rugs will give a room an elegant distinction. In faded hues of gray, beige, and soft peach, even the color palettes bring a sense of long-lasting high design.
The rare patterns in our antique carpets include Turkish Oushaks, Oriental designs, and Persian beauties. Oushak (ushak) carpets made in the 17th century were used in the royal houses of Europe (thus called Palace Rugs) as well as Christian churches. Oushak rugs have recurring themes: star, medallion, bird, etc. (usually with a white background). Ghiordes (giordes) rugs may have a floral spray or prayer niche in the middle. Prayer rugs run in smaller sizes (for one person to kneel on) and have a prayer niche (mihrab) as the center motif. They are incredibly popular as entry or kitchen rugs due to their desirable colors and patterns.
Our antique rugs from Turkey are constructed by hand of wool, occasionally with cotton or silk. One of the favorite fresh collections is our patchwork Oushaks, made from pieces of antique Oriental and Turkish rugs, sewn together and then dyed in bright fashion colors!
