Let there be light...I love this fixture. I was looking for something contemporary with a lot of light, and this is it. I was a little concerned when the box arrived, because there was a small gash on the side - but no worries. Shades of Light had double boxed the fixture, so everything was in great shape. Installation was easy; I opted to install without the single chain at the top, so that the small cover that supports the 6 smaller chains lies flush with the ceiling. Love it! The fixture then hangs 27 1/2" from the ceiling. I ordered this in silver patina - be aware that there are bronze undertones which gives the drum a lovely warm shimmer. If you're looking for a cool clear shiny chrome silver, this may not be the fixture for you. Also be aware that the drum is open on the top and bottom, which helps with illumination, but also means that the light bulbs may be visible depending on the height at which the fixture is hung. This isn't necessarily bad, the six bulbs come out horizontally from a central hub and are kinda cool looking ...other than the wattage warning sticker. This is not a deal killer for me; I have high ceilings and deliberately hung the fixture high to afford lots of head room. If you hang it lower, you may not even see the bulbs unless you're directly underneath the fixture and looking up. I chose this particular lamp because it was one of the few that can accomodate six 100W bulbs. In the end though, I installed 9.5W LED A19 bulbs (the equivalent of 60W bulbs) - the lighting is so ample that I'll even use the dimmer occasionally. The dining area has now become the center of our activity with the improved lighting. I love this fixture and am so glad the Shades of Light catalog found its way to me.
