Medium Base Light Bulbs

If your light fixture has a medium (standard screw-in) base, you have many options for your light bulb. Since the LAMPSHADE determines the wattage for chandeliers, sconces, table lamps and floor lamps, bulb selection should first be concerned with the allowable wattage (consult our lampshade wattage table on our blog in Tips & Techniques). You can use greater wattage in fluorescent and LED medium base bulbs than incandescent due to the less heat they give off (consult our comparison table on our blog).
