The ring that holds the shade is called a socket "lock ring". It's rare to find them for purchase separately but you can buy the whole unit at:
<a href="http://www.jalanes.com/IBS/SimpleCat/Product/asp/hierarchy/020D/product-id/266805.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.jalanes.com/IBS/SimpleCat/Product/asp/hierarchy/020D/product-id/266805.html</a>
for $5.75. Make sure that you don't already have one screwed down on your socket. Good luck.

need to know what the black plastic ring is called that holds the glass sconce globe in place (mine hangs upside down) and it is threaded to go on with the light bulb and has a lip to hold the glass globes securely so they are not loose on the bulb and banging. it is narrow and has the lip which hold the globe so it does not hit the bulb.
